You're right: most of us don't properly understand wokeness or the true meaning of "woke". I think in its original meaning it was for people of color to help each other stay alert, "stay woke to survive" and it was - and still is - necessary for survival in a country that still carries implicit racial bias. In its popularized form, wokeness has come to be used to describe all the people who point out racism in daily life. Unfortunately, it tends to be used for annoying sanctimonious and petty people who think they're doing something useful when in fact all they're doing is pointing fingers and directing hate at white people.

We need to new term for these people so that "woke" can go back to its original and very important meaning. The new term can be used to group the senseless accusatory narrative that hates white people, men, the police, rich people, business and the church.

PS - I support the original wokeness, and I am happy to support the ridiculing of the latter group.
