You sound like the piano player in the silent movie theatre. Seriously, every old generation complains about the young generation, and when we take a closer look, we find it's the unhappy, disillusioned element within the older generation that's doing the complaining. It comes from a failure to understand, a failure to connect, and a failure to adapt to the times.

The fundamental forces driving our human behavior have not changed at all. The technology is new and different, and the specific issues will come and go.

I'm 62 and I'm at risk of one day becoming a disgruntled grumpy old fart who doesn't understand the world anymore. However my defense against this is my strong optimism and my curiosity about progress, technology and innovation. I do believe the future looks better than the past.

I have to quietly smile and say nothing when I hear boomers wailing about kids wearing helmets on their bikes and being stuck to their phones for hours every day. The kids are fine. The boomers, not so fine.
