Women 55+ struggle with dating apps
You knew this, but here’s a zoom-in
We already knew that men are are struggling. Young men, yep. Men 55+, not good. Women are doing better. Young women are 2x more likely to graduate from college than their male counterparts. Women are doing better in the corporate job market — except for c-level jobs, and equal pay in management jobs — they are surviving RIFs and layoffs better than men, and are getting hired 1.5x better than men. Women 55+ are faring better economically and culturally than men, as well as being healthier, happier and better connected with their friends.
Let’s avoid blame and victimhood here. Men need to do better at making meaningful friendships, becoming more vulnerable and transparent, dropping the tough guy wall, while remaining reasonably masculine, confident and funny. It’s a tall order for many men, whose careers have stalled and they’re finding themselves stooping to do shitty jobs like Uber driving or handyman gigs after their corner office went away. No amount of complaining will fix this, we’ll need to modernize our thinking and adapt to an AI world that favors brave, visionary and confident people. There’s growth needed in EQ, communication skills, learning new skills, and being more resilient.
