We're at a natural inflexion point in our recovery, no need to panic. Many good and decent jobs have been filled. Many crappy jobs have been filed. Now we have a temporary stall: thousands of good jobs can't be filled because of skills gaps and/or the offers aren't good enough. Also, millions of shitty jobs are unfilled because unemployment benefits create disincentives to start work in a shithouse. I work in technology in Nor Cal and I get dozens of job opportunities in flyover states and when I check the pay, it's way off so I decline. The economy is on fire, why would I take a pay cut to go work in a state I don't like? At the bottom end of the market, many people will take those drab jobs when their benefits run out, but you can't blame them for holding out in case maybe they can land a decent job that is actually fulfilling and pleasant, instead of stocking shelves at Home Depot.
This is not the last minor stall on our path to rebuilding America. We have to upskill our workers and we have to open the H1B gates when we can't find Americans to fill the jobs.
