Umair: one year ago you were 100% right in all of your assessments about America's situation and outlook. Today you are mostly wrong.

The US has emerged from Covid with a hot economy, millions of people working and making more money than pre-Covid, and our main concern os overheating and inflation. We got rid of the orange dictator and we got 100% the right president to unite us and guide us out of that traumatic half-decade that almost destroyed us. We're working addressing systemic racism and even assumed subconscious racism. We're addressing police tactics and devising new hiring and new training strategies. We're putting everything we have into an infrastructure rebuild plan that will create millions of good jobs, seriously evacuating the retail hell we have left our poorest people in since about 2005. Europe is nowhere near as far into recovery as we are and has done much less to actively design and build a new better normal. The UK is a shambles. South America is suffering 1980's style dictator comedy and can't find its way out of a cardboard box. India is trading in its democracy for a racist emperor who cares little about his country or his people.

Yes, we could stumble and we could fall. We could be back to Trumpland, Foxland and OANland, but we're not.

You are wrong about America. We're reinventing America, and some people haven't woken up from their bad dream to see what's good in the hood.
