This is a great set of observations, thank you. However, silly as these things are, I can easily explain why I'm signed up for them. The one thing I fear more than death is mediocrity. Of the 8 billion humans alive today, I feel most are living like ants in an anthill and that their lives are harsh, cruel and pointless. Most humans work their asses off, they're still dirt poor, and they're still drenched in blood: wars, gangs, mafias, street violence. Hunger, sickness, loss. Then they die. What for?

With this in mind, I am willing to work my ass off for a chance to climb up - and stay up - from poverty and live in safe, comfortable conditions. Eat well, travel, have access to good medical care, sleep comfortably and wake up in a home that is my sanctuary. Come home after a long day, and say express gratitude for my life. Help others where I can.

I'm not there yet. In fact, I'm further away from this than I was 2 years ago. It's OK. I will die trying, because the alternative is mediocrity, poverty, and I'm not signed up for that.
