The end of woke

We are witnessing the last gasps of a spectacularly stupid movement.

I’m not a right winger. I’m and old school democrat, and this is why I care a great deal about the rise — and soon, the fall — of the woke ideology that reached peak stupidity in 2023.

Wokeness drank its own poison following the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel. The universities most invested in preventing hate speech and the most supportive of cancel culture over the past three decades were the first ones to support anti-Israel talk, and came out squarely in support of Hamas, while also failing to denounce the generalized outburst of hate speech against Israel and all Jews.

I’m not Jewish and I’m not pro-Israel. In fact I abhor Netanyahu and Israel’s far right regime. I hve many Jewish friends and I’m in harmony with Jewish people. I decided years ago not to take sides in the Israel/Palestine conflict because neither side deserves my support, and I abhor the endless violence by both sides, regardless of perceived justification by each side.

What we need to collectively reject is hate speech. While supporting free speech. Yeah, it’s hard isn’t it.
