Thank you Michelle I appreciate you writing this.

I gave up on race battles a few years ago. I guess I was a woke person and was trying to help victims of racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of oppression.

I may look white, but I have nothing to say to most white people and I don't really understand identity politics. I'm Kenyan-born Irish, grew up in Italy, and America is my 6th country of residence. If I see a white guy in a MAGA hat, I have no reason to say hello or start a conversation. Whereas if I see an Ethiopian family speaking French, I'm keen to say hello and ask them how they're doing. It's the French, or the African connection, or the likelihood that they have some education, and possibly some fascinating life experiences to share. MAGA guy has none of these.

These days I am decidedly non-woke. I checked out because no matter what I did, some angry more-woke person criticized me and told me I was worthless and doing it all wrong.

I wish everybody the very best, and I'm sorry but I don't think I'm a soldier in this race war thing.

Warm regards,

~m
