Thank you for this ultra-valuable service rendered to the human race - I'm sure we're all much the better for your observations. And I'm sure Eric Clapton will read your article and immediately decide to retreat to his island mansion, never to speak or play again, so contrite he shall be after this admonishment by a not very significant or consequential member of the etc human race.

No, seriously, I'm certain that you believe you're a deeply decent human being and that by pointing the finger at someone for an allegedly racist act or remark, you're delivering tons of goodness to us all, but you are not. Nobody benefits. In fact, the entire ecosystem of liberal-minded, play-fair, democracy advocates suffers, because your article amplifies hate speech and division instead of replacing hate with a unifying, egalitarian message of tolerance, maybe even love.

I prioritize free speech over groupthink and forced adherence to wokeness, therefore I vote to tolerate Eric Clapton and forgive his alleged sins, even if I find him completely irrelevant to my music tastes and ideology. I vote for EC over you. Or hopefully, there's room for both of you.
