PS — we are helping Trump, and we don’t know it.

Racism is terrible, and it must be resisted, eradicated, yes.

But.

Racism is a decoy for Trump. It’s not the core of his strategy at all. Racism does two things for a rising dictator: 1) it helps for a base. Disenfranchised white people are easy targets. You may as well harness their anger. Tell them the Latinos are here to take their jobs, the black people are here to take handouts paid for by their taxes, and the elites are here to vote for more taxes because they hate you. 2) Racism allows a dictator to send millions of educated democrats scurrying in outrage after one of his racist tweets or public forum statements that is actually a decoy, while he inks a deal with an enemy nation to further pillage some more national resources, or give away national security advantage in exchange for large cash payments to a Panama account.

When we scurry in disgust at a racist tweet, we should instead be paying attention to what mischief he’s up to and what piece of America did he just give away.

We are being played, people.
