Love this intelligent and well-written piece about what we're experiencing and how it can be remedied. I have lived in multiple countries and have traveled extensively, and I have to admit that one American characteristic remains hugely valuable to me: the middle class engine that defines our culture. I agree with you that while there isn't a one-stop solution, creating opportunities for the willing will be more important than handing out $$ to the poor.
