Lauren, the progressives have been spitting on the center-left democrats for years. There's a palpable rift between the pragmatic centrists and the ideological movement of the woke people, and sadly they do not like or respect each other much. Very sad, if this means the orange guy gets to exploit the weakness and survive the 2020 election. After that, we can kiss goodbye to all the mechanisms that he's been steadily dismantling since 2016. We will have a proper dictator. The rift could conceivably be the product of Russian and Chinese meddling, or it could be simply human nature, where progressives are spoiled children and are unable to accept when others don't share their views 100%, and boring middle of the road democrats who refuse to venture into new ideas and can't stretch their minds to embrace scary concepts. Either way, because of this rift we are not seeing a two-thirds majority which could assure a meaningful victory and a significant change platform for two terms of visionary democratic leadership.
