La Résistance…
And America does not have a resistance movement.
Stop comparing yourself to a resistance fighter in Hitler’s Germany, 1939. What Americans are doing to fight Trump has nothing in common with the anti-Hitler resistance. They risked their lives. They sheltered jews in their homes. Built secret rooms. Invented codes and secret languages to communicate and get around the nazi spy apparatus. They had a singleness of purpose that overruled personal feelings, political preferences, even family allegiance. They were united against one common enemy.
America couldn’t be further from that today. We are splintered, fractured, there’s no singleness of purpose, and everyone hates everyone. The two-thirds majority which could have been put together to deliver a crushing defeat to agent orange has become an impossibility for the November election. Woke people hate centrist democrats. Which is baffling, given the seriousness of the situation. Swing voters appear confused, and presumably they would quickly congregate around a credible platform, but they haven’t done so yet. Old school democrats appear sluggish and severely lacking a clear call to action for all citizens who happen to give a shit about avoiding a full bore dictatorship, roving gangs and vigilante squads included.
The decades-old fight between the red party and the blue party now looks like a dogfight on the Titanic. America is desperate for a new light that shines, and nobody has it. The Woke movement is not a movement. It’s a burn-it-down mentality that has no real vision for what it wants to put in place if and when it succeeds in burning down the barn. It hates business, business owners, rich people, landlords and ‘shareholders’, whatever that means. It hates the police. It despises white people, blaming them for everything that’s wrong. It hates the church. It hates men. It hates corporations, companies, banks and all big business. It has absolutely no idea what to build on the rubble after all this bad stuff has been exploded.
The apathy of the swing voters and the laziness of centrists who have failed to crystallize a vision that ‘most Americans’ can attach to, goes together with the left’s spoiled child mentality that demands everyone go along with its agenda, or be damned.
None of this makes a resistance movement.
Perhaps it will take another defeat in 2020 and four years of unthinkable presidential corruption before we actually wake up and understand that taking down the bad guy means burying our differences and fighting together to achieve one thing only: take him down and destroy all of the apparatus that might allow a successor to carry on his dictator mission.
We are a million light years from this kind of teamwork.
