I love this article and the juxtaposition of opposing 'realities'. The Social Dilemma spawned a group called Center for Humane Computing, which seeks to build a base of common truth, things that we don't need to argue about because they're accepted as truth.

After 4 decades of education cuts, plus the advent of weaponized social media, we're all sitting ducks for misinformation, some of us more than others. Add to this the disaster of the neoliberal economy which has been generous to educated technologists and financial types but extremely cruel to unskilled workers, we have created a perfect army to be mobilized by cunning people seeking power. To complete the nightmare, add the woke movement which is incapable of understanding geopolitical mechanisms but is incensed by racism, making the Democrats' tent look like Leninist hippies. There could not be a more perfect storm. Where do we go from here?

Empathy, a common understanding, a vision of a caring and sharing society, might be a good place to start.
