Great article and it has aged well since its writing back in April. The comments are both depressing and fascinating. Scott is focused on the concentration of power and wealth in one man who appears to be going Howard Hughes with nobody able to talk sense to him, while the angry mob on Medium is frothing and flapping in a more generalized hatred of all rich people, all tech, all tech founders, and everyone who doesn't hate Elon Musk. It's clear that since the 90's our neoliberal Clintonomics has created a massive swath of disenfranchised population, people who have limited scope top achieve big things in our future economy, and they know it. This turns their enthusiasm into anger and pitches them against almost all positive trends in our current landscape, leaving them alienated and alone. Hating Elon Musk doesn't hurt Elon Musk, just as hating rich people doesn't hurt rich people. It only hurts the haters.
