Fascism as a fringe curiosity will always be with us. Every civilized country has a group of loony toons in swastika jackets and a secret tattoo on their left testicle. No problem. It's when we have hollowed out the working classes, eliminated the decent jobs once held by unskilled non-college educated people, left them with no hope and no future except the certainty that we don't need them in our neoliberal techno-finance educated universe, well this is when they are easily mobilized by a charismatic fascist leader, and suddenly we are under siege. This has happened more tragically than America's version, in Brazil, Philippines, Turkey, Ukraine, and will continue to happen until we fix the wealth gap and stop exporting manufacturing jobs. I believe it's impossible to sustain a 90%-10% economy where the lower 90% of the population exists on shithouse wages and is in debt up to its arse. It's only a matter of time before all cities are in flames and the palaces are being invaded by an angry mob.
