Anti-Jewish violence is not OK and we must support our Jewish friends and stop this cycle.

We must understand that stopping hate crimes is separate from whatever position we take in the Israel-Palestine conflicts. One is about race, religion and people, the other is about a regime.

If some of my Jewish friends see no distinction, and insist on demanding my loyalty to Israel, then we have a problem, and they DO NOT have my support. I abhor the regime in Israel and I do not support Israel's violence against its neighbors. I support all Jewish people in the United States in their quest for peace and safety from hate crimes.

We must remember that these are two separate things. It is possible to be a strong ally to all Jewish people while being a strong critic of the regime in Tel Aviv.

It's astonishing how many Americans fail to see this distinction.
