America wants a third political party
With Joe Biden at the helm
The two-party system has run its course. It was never great, but its simplicity and binary nature more or less got the job done for voters until about ten years ago. In 2011 we experienced the peak of social media’s positiveness in the world. After this, it became weaponized by nasty groups who realized the power it offered, and social media became our public enemy. In 2015 the Russians led the charge to troll American-sounding fake personas and publish highly effective mindfuck content to hypnotize and brainwash voters on the right side of the spectrum. They then began to do likewise on unsuspecting progressives, who began sharing and re-posting ridiculous ideas that has previously belonged in the social sciences faculty lounge.
Our brains like the dopamine hit that we get when we read an idea that aligns nicely with our own ideas, and when someone likes and shares an idea that we put out there. Life is more comfortable when we have more moments of mutual support and agreement, than when we’re frequently confronted with put-downs and points of view that oppose our own. That’s how simple the landscape is, and that’s how easily we slipped into political tribalism that makes us believe the people from the ‘other’ party are evil, subhuman and morally bankrupt people.
